A peninsula opening onto three seas
Greece lies at the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe. It opens onto the Ionian Sea in the west, the Aegean in the east and the Mediterranean to the south. Peninsulas, bays and a deeply indented coast have long made ports and sea routes important links between communities.
